A ceremony was held on April 4th celebrating the opening of the new Advanced Inter-Arts Center building of the Academy in the presence of Mr. Moshe Lion, Mayor of Jerusalem and the Kushner family, among other guests and friends of the Academy.
Designed by Tel Aviv-based practice HQ Architects and HWKN Architecture, the new Advanced Inter-Arts Center building significantly expands this famed institution’s presence in Jerusalem and greatly expands JAMD’s ability to fulfill its mission. The new 2,500 m² building sits adjacent to the original JAMD building, featuring an elegant, playful, stone façade that extends across the entire complex, giving it a sense of unity and a contemporary, welcoming identity.
HQ Architects’ design celebrates the interactive philosophy of an institution dedicated to bringing artists together across disciplines. “It was important to us to design dynamic shared environments that enhance and promote the interaction and cross-fertilization between different disciplines, a combination that is critical for the academy’s student development,” confirms Erez Ella, Founding Partner of HQ Architects. “This sequence of spaces creates a sense of creativity happening all around you.’’
