What is seen outside does not always mirror what is hidden inside.
The Fein 1 Central residential complex, in Tel Aviv, is proof of this; behind a simple, symmetrical street façade is a red courtyard, surrounded by organically shaped balconies that seem to create internal waves. That is the community space, the real beating heart of the complex.
The building offers high quality apartments, while the courtyard creates a meeting place for residents – a genuine community space for gatherings and play, providing the complex with abundant fresh air,” explains Erez Ella, founder of HQ Architects. The new six-story building, covering an area of 6,400 square meters, meets the brief’s requirements, including the creation of small apartments with cross ventilation.
The inner courtyard, in fact, allows for large balconies open to the sky. The apartment complex is distinguished by generous shared spaces, such as the red courtyard area and large sinuous balconies that serve both as pathways and recreational spaces for residents, which are essential to promote and sustain the community culture. The courtyard also contributes to greater sustainability as it promotes low energy consumption by providing shade in summer and direct sunlight in winter.
