The fourth phase of the residential campus expansion adds a building that strengthens the Student Village by offering accessible residences, shared learning and social spaces, fostering community engagement, improving connectivity, and reinforcing the urban fabric of Sderot’s revitalized city center.
Following the successful completion of the previous three phases of the Student Housing expansion, we were commissioned to design additional residential and community spaces. This next phase broadens the variety of spaces within the accommodation campus, providing not only housing but also areas for social, recreational, and practical activities. The fourth phase includes an eight-story building, the Tower, offering unique living units for couples or singles, along with units designed with enhanced accessibility for students with disabilities. The Tower building also incorporates communal spaces, including shared work and study areas. The basement, ground floor and the 6th floors are dedicated to public programs such as a tenants’ club, a multipurpose room, shared learning spaces, and a laundry room, with amenities intended for use by the entire complex. The Tower features eight floors above ground, with six residential levels. Each residential floor contains seven living units, where six units are standard and one on each floor is designed with accessible features. Every unit includes a double-height ceiling, a kitchenette, and a sleeping area, along with small standing balconies. The building’s two communal floors, the ground floor and the sixth floor, offer learning spaces, common areas, and open balconies. They support social engagement, academic collaboration, and overall student well-being. Situated at the highest point of the site, the tower’s sixth floor offers spectacular views of the city, establishing a strong visual connection between the Student Village complex and Sderot. Overall the student village development is an integral part of the urban fabric, improving connectivity within Sderot's center. It supports the ongoing revitalisation of Sderot’s center and reinforces the student village as an active, accessible component of the broader urban network.
