World Zionist Village

A campus shaped by climate, culture, and the movement of people.

In the southern heart of Be’er Sheva, the World Zionist Village is designed as a 48,000 sqm campus where education, culture, and community meet. Its masterplan is shaped by three core principles: a central square as the symbolic and physical heart, a “village of villages” fostering exchange across programs and generations, and a design rooted in the site’s climate, topography, and heritage.Seven design parameters — authenticity, sustainability, flexibility, safety, phasing, functionality, and conversation — guided every decision, ensuring spaces remain purposeful and adaptable. A privacy-to-publicity gradient organizes the program from quiet dormitories, to shared classrooms, to open cultural plazas. Three realms of action define the spatial logic: Living, Learning, and Gathering, with Gathering placed at the center as the connective tissue for the entire campus. The wadi that runs through the site is preserved as an ecological and civic spine, anchoring the landscape and linking the Village to Be’er Sheva’s parklands. Circulation paths connect directly to surrounding neighborhoods, public transport, and the adjacent amphitheater, embedding the Village into the city’s everyday life. Buildings are broken into smaller volumes for phased construction, natural ventilation, and daylight optimization, while shaded courtyards and arcades provide year-round comfort. The World Zionist Village is conceived not only as a place to visit, but as a framework for living, learning, and shaping the future of Zionism in the 21st century.
